Toby the Stallion

Here's to horseback riding. I have a bruised bum and sore arms. Toby, my horse, was absolutely immense. Seriously, I've never seen a horse this big in my life. Everyone else's was so small and manageable-looking. I was honestly frightened. But he was a sweetie, and we had fun. Go ahead, let the sex-jokes roll-in.

So Sunday was a fun trip. We chartered a coach and rode as a group (19-strong) to Wales, visiting Chepstow Castle, Tintern Abbey, horseback riding, and shopping in Hay-on-Wye--they have lots of secondhand bookstores. Too bad we were all so worn out when we got there! We stopped at a lovely pub outside Oxford (near Witney) and had dinner together. It was a nice day out together with my housemates, kind of bringing the semester to a nice close.

Yesterday I went to Eastbourne to visit an oldschool american friend that I haven't seen in over a year. She's actually on a plane right now heading back to Georgia, but it was great to see her over here. We went shopping, hung out, and had dinner together and caught up on old times and hometown gossip. I've missed her, she's so hilarious and really understands my sense of humor. I'll see her again when I get back to Dalton in about a month.

The trip there took about four hours by rail, which was okay since I had a book and all, but the trip back was horrendous. I made it into London victoria, took the tube over to Paddington, and got there just in time to see that all the trains to Oxford had been cancelled, and there would be no more for the rest of the night. So I had to haul myself back to Victoria, walk to the coach station in the freezing cold, and wait outside for the next X90 to oxford for almost an hour. I was cold! Once on the bus I fell asleep almost instantaneously (which looks mispelled). We pulled into Oxford at almost 2am, and I was self-indulgent and took a cab home instead of waiting outside in the cold for the late-night bus. I fell into bed and woke up early this morning to write my presentation for class today.

This morning was my last class in Oxford, ever. I gave a short presentation on Apocalypticism and Star Trek, which was interesting and comical (I forecasted that Enterprise wouldn't last because of the terrible theme song). Now I'm back at the house, doing laundry, and getting ready to pack. I've been having some weird numbness in my skin on my neck and face, and now my right arm as well, since about Friday. I'm a little freaked out about it, and I hope I'm not dying or anything. I hope it's just a pinched nerve or something easily adjustable, and not Multiple Sclerosis or a brain tumor or something terrible like that.
