I wish they all could be california girls

I have no idea why I have that song running through my head. I get the weirdest songs that way: the other day "Lightning striking again" or whatever it's called was locked in my brain, but only the chorus because that's all I know.

Yesterday I had a much-needed fun day out with Nat. First we took her sewing machine to be serviced and I saw the cutest little lime-green vacuum cleaner at the store (it's a joint sewing machine/vacuum cleaner store). Then we went to Old navy and tried on lots of clothing, mainly just for fun. I don't really have tons of cash right now (in fact, I kind of owe money) but I tried on some size 18 stuff and some *gasp* clothing from the women's side of the store, which I've not done in awhile. I'm not going to rant right now on this--okay, maybe just a little--that clothing shoppes really make larger women feel like they don't even have the right to be feminine by only selling up to size 14 or 16--I think Abercrombie only sells to a size 10 or something (correct me if I'm wrong). Average size is somewhere around 8-12, so why do stores stock and cater to smaller-than-average sizes? Size 0? Dear lord. So for a long time I wore men's clothes (with girlish flair), then I started shopping at Lane Bryant (which will always have a place in my heart). This past year, however, I lost about 20 pounds and found that I could fit back into a women's XL at most stores. So trying on clothes was really fun yesterday. Of course, it was also really fun because Nat came with me, and also because they had a massive clearance section, from which I purchase a lovely pastel green fleece hoody that is just adorable. I'm soft, so if you see me in this sweatshirt, it's okay to pet me. And no, not like that, you perv. :)
